I guess I should at least take a moment to lay out what it is.
The quick and current answer is that Relevant Irreverence is a “show” that would fall under the category of a short form, non-linear, absurdist sketch comedy in the tradition of Flying Circus.
But that’s not really an answer to the question is it.
Fair enough. Lets start with the words.
Relevant Irreverence. I don’t recall the first time the words were together in my head. It wasn’t contextual at all. But I remember being amused by saying it to myself out loud and being amused at how the words played together. Relevant Irreverence. Irrelevant Reverence. Irrelevant Irreverence. Relevant Reverence… and on and on.
I used it for a blog or two that went no where, and then put it on a shelf.
Then when I wanted to build this set of webzines, I needed one that wasn’t restricted to just my art, but reflected my stranger ideas and interests. Things that are just a little more akilter of normal than someone who is interested in my hippy stuff of at Cernunnos Foundation, or just into travel and appreciating architecture and random things we find in the world.
And I started playing with those words again.
Relevant:
pertinent, applicable, related, germane, appropriate, connected, fitting, suitable, significant, important, material, on point, on topic, to the point, and in line with
Irreverence:
disrespect, mockery, disdain, flippancy, impertinence, insolence, rudeness, audacity, boldness, cheekiness, blasphemy, disregard, sauciness, impudence, and contempt
You know what?
Maybe it should have been Reverent Irrelevance.
Oh well, you are getting what you are getting now.
